There’s one tasting room on your wine tour that you simply cannot miss. The Southern Oregon Wine Institute is a college program where students learn the ins and outs of the wine industry, including how to manage and run a wine tasting bar.
The bar itself is open to the public Friday – Sunday. Hours change periodically, so it’s a good idea to call ahead at 541-440-7904. While you’re sipping some of Oregon’s best up-and-coming wine, be sure to ask about the college program. You’ll quickly discover that this is a unique viticulture and enology program, made possible thanks to interest from the wine growers of the area and Umpqua Community College.
Bottling great talent. The Southern Oregon Wine Institute offers degrees, certificates and continuing education programs that aim to help budding, as well as current, winemakers leave their mark and bring their product to market. You’ll find the institute on campus at 1140 Umpqua College Road in Roseburg.
